Lincoln Center Out of Doors

New York City’s Lincoln Center holds the free event Out of Doors on the culture center’s grounds over a three-week period during the summer. The family-friendly event offers world-class music, dance and interdisciplinary performances. With more than 100 performances throughout the duration of the event, the Lincoln Center Out of Doors offers something for all art and music lovers.

Bicycle Film Festival

June 25-28

The Bicycle Film Festival came to fruition after founder Brendt Barbur was hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. He began the festival as a platform to celebrate bicycles through film, music and art. It screens films from both established filmmakers and emerging directors who are passionate about bicycling. The festival also features JOYRIDE, an annual travelling art show that incorporates visual manifestations of the cycling movement for festivalgoers to view.

The Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park

Shakespeare in the Park is an annual summer series of theatrical productions presented in Central Park’s Delacorte Theater. Each year, the series produces several Shakespearean classics ranging from The Tempest and Cymbeline to Hamlet and King Lear. Past seasons have featured performances from such renowned actors as Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Kevin Kline, Patrick Stewart, Anne Hathaway, Philip Seymour Hoffman and many others.

Summer Streets is an annual New York City tradition that takes over nearly seven miles from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and Lafayette. This free festival welcomes people of all ages to partake in a day of playing and hanging out in the streets. The daylong event is held for three consecutive Saturdays in August and allows attendees a space for healthy recreation. This festival encourages sustainability, so bring your bike and take advantage of the safe, closed-off streets.

Central Park Conservancy Film Festival

The annual Central Park Conservancy Film Festival in New York City is a cinematic celebration of films that have been shot and crafted in The City That Never Sleeps. The five-day all ages event takes place in Central Park and features a different theme each year, screening films across multiple genres. Previous films screened were box office hits, cult classic or have won Independent Spirit or Academy Awards.
