5 Ways to Celebrate Women’s Equality Day

Women’s Equality Day, celebrated on the 26th of August, is a day when women were granted the right to vote according to the 19th Amendment. This day can be observed in many ways. One of the most evident ways is, of course, doing the activities that help solve the issues women still face today. It includes inequality of wages, technical field representation, educational opportunities and leadership roles, as well as many other problems. If you want to get involved and help women get more equal rights, don’t hesitate to take part in numerous activities on Women’s Equality Day!

But celebrating this day isn’t only about making a difference in the world. It’s also about doing something important on a personal level. It’s about enjoying it with all the women you have in your life and spending time with your family and friends. Read onto learn how you can do this!

Spend Time with Your Mom

The best thing is to spend time with her personally. It doesn’t matter if you do something in particular – it’s more important just to be together and talk. Listen to her. Let her know how much she matters to you. If you’re too far from each other to do this personally, at least be present on the phone or via Skype.

Remember your Grandmother

Your grandmother is another important woman in your life. If she lives too far from you and you can’t spend personal time with her, write her a letter. Imagine how happy she will be to receive a letter from you! And we’re not talking about an email here – an actual handwritten letter, like in the good old days.

Make a Family Video

You don’t have to make it fancy. A video taken on your phone or video camera is enough as long as it has all the female family members of yours – your mother, grandmother, sister, wife, daughter, etc. Share this video with everyone in your family and save it, so you can watch it and recall this day in the future.

Call Your Best Friend

A good friend is also a family member – so make sure you let your friend know she matters too. Talk about how you are doing and ask what she’s up to at the moment. Remember that it’s not about learning something new – it’s about reconnecting and keeping in touch.

Share!

Talking to the women you love, share what’s in your heart. If you want, you can even reveal a secret you’ve been hiding for a long time, whether it’s something big or small. Just open your heart.

What do you think about these ways to celebrate Women’s Equality Day? Do you have any other ideas? If you do, make sure to use them this year!
